Geneva Christmas market axed

National News // Sept. 22, 2020

Yet another Christmas market bites the dust.

This year’s market due to be held in Geneva at the Jardin Anglais will not go ahead. Organizers say the uncertainties are too great.

The market was due to start in November. But with infections rising and the worries of further lockdowns – as well as people simply wishing to avoid crowds – the organizers say it would be too much of a financial risk for them and the stall holders, as they will have to start ordering their stock.

But the market for next year remains.

The City of Geneva says the Christmas lights and the Geneva Lux Festival will still go ahead.
