At a press conference the director of the Vaud cantonal hospital, Philippe Eckert, says they have 23 people in the hospital right now – at the start of the pandemic, there were 150.

He says some patients could be sent elsewhere in the country if too many people are admitted. He pointed out the next in line is the Inselspital in Bern, but patients could also be sent to Basel or Zurich if necessary.

He refused to be drawn on the question if this was a second wave, saying its not up to the hospital to make that determination.
