Geneva under control - but on a knife edge

Despite the rising infections in Vaud, Geneva cantonal authorities say the situation is under control and rules on mask wearing as well as the closure of nightclubs is having an effect.

But the number of infections amongst those aged between 20 and 39 is rising. There have also been more cases in nursing homes since the end of August with 35 new infections, 4 hospitalizations and 5 deaths.

But there are currently no patients in intensive care in the canton at the moment.

The head of the health directorate, Adrian Bron, told the press the fight is not won and the canton is on a knife edge.

He says new testing centres will be opened and says people should get tested even if they feel only slightly unwell. He says waiting times are being reduced.
