Christmas possibly 'cancelled' due to pandemic
Will the virus cancel Christmas?
The first seasonal victim of the virus has been announced – the traditional Christmas market on the Franziskanerplatz in Lucerne is off.
Organizers say the strict social distancing rules means it can’t go ahead.
The move could send a signal across the country that other markets may be in danger, which would be a disaster for small stall owners.
But even if some markets did go ahead – would people actually go? The head of the Lucerne Christmas Association, Albert Schwarzenbach, says he doesn’t think face masks and mulled wine go together.
