Climbing infections - but jobs good news
In the last 24 hours a further 444 have tested positive for Covid-19. That’s up from the beginning of the weekend when the infection rate broke 400 on Friday.
Two people died over the weekend.
But, there are hopes the economy will recover better than first expected after the lockdown.
A survey published by the Federal Statistics Office shows more than 70% of firms want to maintain current staffing levels and 9% are looking to recruit.
But some sectors are feeling the effect more than others. Machine makers, watchmakers and tourist related businesses are all expecting to cut jobs.
But the number of new jobs being advertised is up more than 50% since the end of lockdown – but still down on the same period last year.
