Geneva nightclubs write to canton to denounce latest closure decision
Geneva nightclub owners are frustrated at a decision to keep them closed until November 16th – but to allow them to operate as a bar or hire out their venues for private events.
30 clubs - out of a total of 36 – have written to the canton denouncing the idea and believe the concessions are to give the government an excuse not to pay them any compensation.
The clubs say many are not in the right location to be a bar – the business model is completely different - and question the logic of allowing private events.
The owner of the Java club says he suspects the canton just wants to get rid of nightclubs.
