Geneva abnormally plagued by summer traffic jams
Normally during the summer, Geneva traffic is lighter as schools are out and many are away.
This year the figures show that isn’t happening as the city has been plagued by jams since the end of lockdown.
A spokesman for the Cantonal Infrastructure Office says there’s a variety of reasons. People are unwilling to take public transport, they haven’t gone away – including kids to their summer camps – and there’s a higher number of construction works going on at the moment that were delayed due to the lockdown.
Normally traffic levels drop by a noticeable 10% fall over the summer.
