Farmer's field destroyed after teens light firework
A group of teenagers playing with firecrackers are being blamed for a blaze which destroyed 30,000 square metres of a farmer’s field in Meyrin, Geneva.
A Geneva police spokesman says the field was very dry.
A witness says they saw three teenagers – all around 16 years old – light a firework. When the field started to burn, they tried to stomp it out but then fled.
Firefighters were called about 19.00 last night. It took 15 fire engines and over 30 firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation.
