Light aircraft crashes in cornfield during pleasure flight
A light aircraft crashed in a cornfield in canton Aargau over the weekend.
The single engine Piper Warrior was forced down near Reitnau after a mechanical failure shortly after takeoff.
The plane had left with two people on board from the airfield in Birrfeld on a pleasure flight over the Alps.
The pilot requested an emergency landing at an airport near Lucerne, but the plane crashed into a field nearby.
The pilot and passenger escaped unhurt.
Accident investigators are examining the wreckage.
