Political rising star, Maudet, kicked out of Liberal Radical Party
Former political rising star Pierre Maudet has been kicked out of the Liberal Radical Party.
The Geneva branch decided the former minister’s continued membership was incompatible after he was referred to trial on corruption charges.
The head of the local branch, Bertrand Reich, says he has had messages of support from members after the decision.
Maudet’s problems started in 2015 when he accepted a ride on a private jet back from Abu Dhabi, triggering allegations of favoritism.
Last week prosecutors decided to refer Maudet, and four other defendants, to trial.
