Dinghy disaster dodged on the Limmat
The hot weather over the weekend brought out the rubber dinghies onto the rivers – but several missed an exit point on the Limmat River in Zurich and headed towards the hydroelectric station.
Quick witted staff shut down the turbines to allow the passengers off.
The power company, the EKZ, say they were lucky as there are not always staff on duty at the weekend.
The company says there are plenty of signs warning those on the river to get out before the dam.
