US Embassy in Bern finds loophole to fly gay pride flag
The US Embassy in Bern has been flying the rainbow gay pride flag – seemingly in violation of orders from President Trump.
June is Pride Month in the United States – designed to promote tolerance.
The flag used to be a common appearance at US embassies across the world but last year the US State Department ordered the only flag on the flagpoles at embassies should be the Stars and Stripes.
But the Bern embassy seems to have found a loophole in the orders. An embassy spokesman says the US flag should fly on the main flagpole – the embassy has two and the rainbow flag is on the second one.
