National News // June 22, 2020

A new stethoscope is being developed at Geneva University which is being described as a medical version of ‘Shazam’.

The device will be able to recognize the unique sounds of Covid-19 in a similar way Shazam can recognise a song with just a few notes.

Alain Gervaix from the Faculty of Medicine says all lung diseases have a different acoustic signature.

The stethoscope can be used by any medical professional and allows the course of the disease to be tracked.
