New guidelines set for federal government workers' official trips
Workers for the federal government will have to take the train more often for official trips following the publication of new guidelines.
From next month, any journey that can be done in under 6 hours by train means that a train must be taken.
The move is part of the government’s plan to cut carbon emissions.
Also, staff will have to fly economy for all flights except long-haul of more than 9 hours. Just long enough to mean Zurich to Washington DC won’t be covered. That takes 8 and a half hours.
