3 separate accidents cause havoc on A1 between Geneva and Lausanne
A series of three separate accidents on the A1 autoroute between Geneva and Lausanne caused havoc yesterday morning and killed one man and several cows.
The first accident just before 8am killed a 36-year-old man who’d stopped to change a tyre between Nyon and Rolle. He was hit by another car and died immediately.
Just over an hour later near the same spot, two cars collided and a 39-year-old man had to be helicoptered to hospital with serious injuries.
Then finally at 11.30, two cattle trucks smashed into each other near the Gland exit. Several animals died and others had to be euthanized by a vet. The remaining cows were wandering in the road until they were rounded up.
Traffic didn’t return to normal until the early afternoon.
