Home antibody tests' reliability questioned
There are warnings about home antibody tests which are now available online.
The tests can be ordered and sent to you home. The customer sends a blood sample back which is supposed to determine if they’ve been infected with Covid-19.
But there are serious questions about their reliability. A professor of virology at the EPFL in Lausanne, Didier Trono, says a positive result could be wrong half the time.
He adds it’s still not known how long someone who has had the infection would be immune for.
The tests cost CHF 80.
The Geneva Heath Department also warns against using the tests.
