Covid-19 figures jump whilst Geneva is most infected canton
The latest Covid-19 figures have shown a small jump over the last 24 hours – the Federal Health Office says 50 people tested positive.
For the last few days, the numbers have been below 40. At the beginning of the week, lockdown restrictions were lifted slightly and more people are now travelling to work.
There haven’t been more than 100 new cases a day since May 3rd.
Geneva is the most affected canton - one percent of the cantonal population has contracted the virus, the only canton to reach that level.
Other heavily affected cantons are Ticino, Vaud, Basel-City and Valais.
Currently figures from the Federal Health Office show 1,589 people have died. 58% are men with a median age of 84. 97% of those who died had a previous health condition.
