Plan put forth to help businesses forced to close during pandemic
A plan to help businesses forced to close during the pandemic has been put forward by the National Economic Council.
The proposal is shops and other firms that had to cease trading should pay only 40% of their rent for the entire time they couldn’t operate.
The plan would cover all rents up to CHF 20,000 a month. After that, the two sides are urged to mediate.
Under the idea, the government would bring in a CHF 20m hardship fund for landlords who are dependent on the income.
