Government to help SWISS and Edelweiss but not easyJet
The government is to help some of the Swiss aviation sector – but the money comes with strict rules and not all companies will benefit.
SWISS International Airlines - which is part of the German company Lufthansa – will get cash, as will the carrier Edelweiss. But the money can only be spent on infrastructure in Switzerland.
But easyJet Switzerland, a subsidiary of the main British company, will not get any help – the government says that’s a matter for the UK parent company.
Any aid paid out should be repaid as a matter of urgency say the government – ahead of any other debts.
