Switzerland prepares for Covid-19 second wave over summer
While the current rate of infections is flattening, experts are now preparing for a second wave which may hit in July and August when containment measures begin to end.
Hospitals in Switzerland are able to cope with 2,000 in intensive care – that’s up from a pre-virus figure of 981.
Even an optimistic scenario suggests as many as 15,000 could die between July and September with 5 million infected.
The numbers have been put together by analysts from the EPFL and Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
