Government under pressure to amend reopening plans
While some businesses will be reopening on Monday, it will be a very limited move and the government has backed down on allowing supermarkets to sell their entire range.
Under pressure from shops still not being allowed to open, the supermarket chains will still not be able to sell non-essential items.
Independent book sellers have withdrawn a petition calling on supermarkets not to sell books. They say the government has listened after it gathered 8,000 signatures in just a few days.
But the continuing lockdown is expensive. The Finance Minister Ueli Maurer says its costing CHF 5bn a week and by the end the final bill could be CHF 70bn.
