The Federal Office for Public Health relaxed licensing requirements for the production of disinfectant a few weeks ago.
Migros has started to manufacture the product, and has equipped its 100,000-strong workforce with hand-sanitiser.
Distilleries too have been adapting their processes - to use high-proof alcohol for production.
One distillery in Luzern, famous for its Swiss fruit spirits, is producing up to 10,000 litres a day.
Diwisa has insisted it won’t take advantage of increased demand by asking outrageous prices.
