Experts puzzled by starlings dropping dead from sky
Wildlife experts are puzzled why over 100 starlings seemingly dropped dead from the sky in canton Thurgau.
Police have ruled out a crime.
Witnesses say the birds were laying across a road and some in a nearby meadow. Drivers put out warning triangles to stop traffic driving across.
The carcasses have been sent to the wildlife center at the University of Bern for examination.
One expert says he’s never seen anything like it – but he has heard stories of similar events. Roman Kistler from the Thurgau cantonal hunting and fishing office says it may stay a mystery.
