Illegal creche in Geneva closed down
A private creche has been closed down in Geneva after authorities discovered the staff were not qualified and there were a series of serious safety lapses.
Inspectors say the staircases were not secured and toxic materials were within reach of the children.
The head of the creche in Lancy says she has been honest with the parents that it was an illegal creche. She already had a police record as she was once arrested for working as a maman du jour without the right clearances.
The existence of the creche only highlights the lack of childcare in Geneva. Now 40 families will have to find alternative arrangements.
