City of Geneva to officially oppose French autoroute plan
The City of Geneva is moving ahead with its official opposition of French plans to build a new autoroute along Lake Geneva in Haute Savoie.
The move was announced by former Geneva mayor Rémy Pagani.
The city has been joined by Carouge and environmental groups in Switzerland and France.
Geneva will file a motion to the French Council of State, which acts as the country’s Supreme Court.
It will argue the autoroute is unnecessary since the completion of the Léman Express train network and will create more pollution.
