Emergency calls disrupted after Swisscom network goes down
The telecom firm Swisscom says much of its network was disrupted last night – including calls to emergency services – after maintenance work caused unexpected problems.
Many were left without mobile services, landline phones, internet and streaming TV from around half past 10 last night.
The outages affected the whole country.
Swisscom says in a statement after the problems were first detected, the planned upgrades were suspended.
The network started to recover at about midnight - but pockets of problems remained, according to the company.
It should all be back to normal this morning. Swisscom says it’s carefully monitoring the situation.
