Police warn of new scam targeting elderly
Vaud police have issued a warning about a scam which targets elderly people.
It starts with a phone call. The scammer pretends to be a friend of a family member who needs some cash. They urge the pensioner to go to the bank - then they arrange a meeting place to hand the money over.
The police say they know of five attempts since the beginning of the year – but they worry there could be more victims who haven’t reported it – or may not be aware they’ve been had.
