Migros accused of theft espionage
The Migros supermarket chain is being accused of spy-like activities after delaying action when they detected a 16-year-old girl suspected of stealing from a branch near Bern.
In November the girl was summoned to a police station to answer allegations of 22 thefts.
Questions are being asked why the supermarket waited for so long before taking action. A spokeswoman for a consumer protection group says Migros should have acted immediately.
A view echoed by the Federal Data Protection Office. It says the girl should have been questioned within 24 hours of the first alleged theft – not several weeks later.
The teenager is accused of stealing nearly 300 francs worth of goods.
