Fribourg signs Airbnb tax agreement
Fribourg is the latest canton to sign an agreement with Airbnb.
The rental site will automatically collect a tourist tax and pay it back to the canton.
Tourist officials say the agreement has two advantages – it removes an administration burden and creates equal treatment with hotels.
The tax is around 3 francs a day per person.
Airbnb is already collecting the tax for several German speaking cantons. Airbnb accommodation in Switzerland has doubled in three years to now around 60,000 premises.
