Swiss online shoppers accessing EU-wide products

National News // Jan. 15, 2020

Swiss online shoppers are increasingly turning to intermediaries which allow them to access all products available across the EU.

Many shoppers in Switzerland are frustrated that large online retailers such as Amazon and Ebay don’t ship many items to the country.

A market gap has been created for firms like ‘Mein Einkauf’ or ‘Internet Shoppers Club.’ These companies post well over a thousand packages a day.

Online customers can choose exactly what they want – mainly from German based retailers.

Analysts say although products from the EU are normally cheaper – it’s not the main reason. Shoppers are driven by availability.

But there are drawbacks. Swiss buyers will not have access to after sales support.
