Russian skate in critical condition after Olympics rehearsal accident
The opening ceremony of the Youth Winter Olympics later today will be marred following an accident involving a Russian skater.
The 35-year-old woman was seriously injured after falling onto an ice rink while being hoisted by a cable as part of the ceremony rehearsals.
Lausanne police say she’s in a critical condition.
The accident happened at the city’s main hockey stadium – which is where the ceremony will be today.
The Youth Winter Olympics brings together over 1,800 competitors from around the world.
