Geneva opposes Lake Geneva autoroute plan on French side
The City of Geneva has contacted a French law firm to fight the decision to give the go-ahead to a new autoroute which will link the towns of Thonon and Annemasse on the shores of the lake.
The city is also joining forces with several French based environmental groups.
There are worries about pollution and the new road will be in direct competition with the newly opened Léman Express.
The trains run into the centre of Geneva from Evian, through Thonon and Annemasse.
Environmental groups say the new train service needs time to show how effective it can be.
