Racist comedian ordered to Geneva court
The French comedian Dieudonné M’bala M’bala is being ordered to attend court in Geneva for allegedly using racist speech during his stand-up shows in Geneva and Nyon.
The performer already has several convictions for racist comments throughout Europe. French and Belgium courts have fined him in the past for inciting racial hatred against the Jewish community.
Back in 2017 the Swiss Supreme Court decided a hand gesture popularized by Dieudonné is racist after a young fan was convicted for using it outside a synagogue in Geneva.
The comic is due in court next month. Antisemitism groups say they hope to get a conviction.
