Flash charging bus goes global
The flash charging electric bus, which has been running in Geneva for the last two years, is going global.
The TOSA bus, which charges when it makes a stop to pick-up passengers, was developed by Geneva Public Transport, the cantonal utility company SIG and the firm ABB.
The Australian city of Brisbane is to buy 60 of the buses. The order comes shortly after Nantes in France bought 22.
A spokesman for canton Geneva says the success of the technology will mean more jobs and shows it was worth the risk backing the new technology
It didn’t get off to a good start though. When the press was invited to the launch in December 2017, the bus broke down.
