Politicians to discuss growth of Grand Genève
Geneva politicians are calling for a big conversation about the region on how it should handle the economic growth rate.
The Grand Genève region, which takes in Geneva, Vaud and neighbouring France, is growing at a rate of 20,000 people a year - making it one of the fastest growing areas in Europe.
Last weekend voters decided to put more restrictions on the airport because of concerns over noise and pollution.
Many business leaders are worried it may cut economic growth.
The Geneva state councillor, Antonio Hodgers, wants to bring together all sides of the debate early next year to discuss development and quality of life. He says he believes face to face meetings will be less emotional than the current debate raging on social media.
