The last run-off elections for the Swiss Senate have been completed and the Greens have managed to secure another seat – taking their total in the Upper House to 5.

Voters in Basel-Country followed the so-called Green Wave and elected Maya Graf.

The Swiss People’s Party gained a seat in Aargau. But the centrist Christian Democrats are the largest party. The final results mean there’s a record number of women in the Senate at 12. There are 46 members in total – two from each full canton and 1 from each half-canton.
