Charges dropped against Dignitas clinic death doctor
All charges have been dropped against a doctor after a British woman who was accompanying her 95-year-old mother to Zurich to end her life, died herself.
While at the Dignitas clinic in October 2016 the 58-year-old started to vomit and collapsed. A doctor was called who gave the woman a sedative. But she fell into a coma and died later in hospital.
The doctor was initially found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. But prosecutors have decided to end any further action, saying there’s no link between the doctor’s actions and the woman’s death. An autopsy shows the woman suffered a brain hemorrhage.
The procedure for the 95-year-old mother was completed successfully.
