Zurich high-tech Christmas market to prevent attacks
Zurich has installed a high-tech system to prevent any truck attacks on the Christmas market in the city centre.

Three years ago, 11 people died in Berlin when a truck was driven into a market and in July 2016, 86 were killed in a truck attack in Nice.
The new barriers line the market set-up on the Sechseläutenplatz. The police say they will stop any vehicle.
The barriers can be raised in an emergency so they allow easy access for the rest of the time.
The main train station has also had further security measures installed, disguised as Christmas trees. The trees have been planted within concrete blocks, which are also designed to stop vehicles.
