Technical glitch leaves many unable to pay card
Many people were unable to make credit card payments yesterday morning due to a technical glitch.
The company behind many electronic payments in the country, Worldline, says although the system was off-line for only about half an hour from 8.30am – the backlog of transactions meant there were problems until midday yesterday.
Major retailers, service stations and train ticket terminals were all affected.
Worldline is a French based pan European payment system which has recently purchased the Swiss payment company, SIX.
The problems were not just in Switzerland, some customers in Austria and Liechtenstein also had payment issues.
There was option to go old-school. Cash machines were unaffected.
