Changing shopping habits cause strain for second biggest Swiss mall
Switzerland’s second biggest shopping centre – the Mall of Switzerland – is celebrating its second birthday, but changing shopping habits are causing a strain.

The centre in canton Lucerne has seen 20 shops leave since its opening and around 20% of retail, space is currently free.
The mall’s management says there are companies interested in leasing space – but negotiations take some time.
The centre is also allowing more ‘pop-up’ outlets operating under limited rental periods.
At the opening in 2017, the mall was expecting 4.5 million visitors a year – this year that target was missed by 300,000.
