National News // Oct. 30, 2019

Drivers in the French town of Annemasse, which borders Geneva, are wrecking the new tram line which is due to open in December.

Town planers have laid the tracks through a grassy strip – but drivers don’t seem to realise they can’t drive on it.

One Twitter user shared a picture of even a post office van parked in the middle.

Every time, the grass needs to be re-laid.

Police say they will be watching out for inconsiderate motorists and will be handing out EUR 135 fines.

The new cross-border tram is due to open on December 15th.
