Geneva gives green light to Thursday night bus service
Young Genevans are more likely to go out on Thursday nights and the canton has given the green light to boost night bus services to make sure everyone can get home safely.
The increased services could add a million francs a year to the public transport budget.
The 19-year-old Green Party cantonal MP, Katia Leonelli, says ‘Calvin is dead – the young are coming out on Thursdays’.
The cantonal parliament agreed to the new buses by 65 votes to 29.
The TPG say around 7,000 use the night bus every night of the weekend – they believe another 5,000 will use the new Thursday overnight services.
