More people buying CHF 4,000 travel cards
More and more people are buying a General ‘Abonnement’ for public transport.
The all-access travel card allows for free transport on virtually all trains, buses and trams in the country.
It costs nearly CHF 4,000 for second class travel and just over CHF 6,000 for first class.
The use of the cards has climbed 20-fold in the last 20 years – that’s 10,000 new users every year.
It’s thought the popularity of the cards is due to more people choosing to commute by public transport and shun the car.
