Dash-cams cannot be used as evidence, Supreme Court rules
The Swiss Supreme Court has ruled video taken by dash-cams cannot be used as evidence unless it’s for a serious offence.
Judges say the recordings violate data collection laws and so can’t be used except in cases of an overriding public interest.
A woman had taken the issue to court after she was convicted of several driving offences based on the recoding from a dash-cam in the car behind her.
She had been fined CHF 4,000 with a further suspended fine of CHF 16,000.
The court ruled the driving offences were not serious enough to allow the video footage.
