German meat alert issued across Switzerland
Five people are known to have died in Germany and the Netherlands due to listeria contaminated meat from the German sausage maker Wilke – and there are concerns some products may have been imported into Switzerland.
The Federal Food Safety Office has issued an alert to all cantons about the meat.
It’s thought unlikely contaminated products have gone straight to shop shelves – but could have been delivered to catering companies.
The factory in Germany has been shut down and all its fresh meat products have been recalled internationally.
