Rise in Swiss train transport complaints
More and more people are complaining about the trains.
Broken toilets and the closure of ticket offices are the main reasons – but also delays and cancellations.
One extreme case handled by the Ombudsman was a young man who was traveling from Geneva to Lucerne after a party and couldn’t find a working toilet. He ended up needing medical treatment at hospital in Lucerne where doctors had to insert a catheter.
The move to digital tickets means offices are being closed, but many passengers prefer buying their ticket from a person.
Swiss Federal Railways responded to the criticism saying the complaints are being taken seriously.
