Motion put forward to tackle double insurance problem
Parliament is looking to tackle the problem of people being double insured.
It is illegal to have two health insurance policies running at the same time – but many find themselves in the situation due to complicated paper work.
It’s currently the time you can switch insurance policies – but the communication between the different companies doesn’t flow as easily as it should.
A Green MP, Maya Graf from Basel, has put forward a motion to strengthen the law to make it easier to switch policies.
The insurers themselves say they would like to see the situation improve. The association of health insurers, Santésuisse, says it makes their life complicated if someone has two policies.
