Presumed organ donation law initiate to go to vote
The majority of people are in favour of presumed consent for organ donation.
The organization, Swisstransplant, says the survey, carried out by gfs.bern, shows the people have a sense of solidarity.
75% say they support a proposed new law which will allow organs to be taken from an adult body unless there are specific instructions not to.
An initiative to change the law has been accepted and it’s expected to go to a vote early next year. The government has slightly amended the original petition text to allow relatives to object.
