Bank refuses to compensate hacked woman's loss
The Basel Kantonal Bank is refusing to compensate a customer after her account was hacked and she lost CHF 28,000.
The fraud took place at the end of last year. A woman has been arrested.
The customer says the bank is not refunding the money as they say it's not their fault. It's thought likely the customer inadvertently downloaded a virus which was able to hack her account.
A spokesman for the bank says it's normal practice across the industry. Banks cannot be held liable for the security of the customers’ computer.
