Geneva and Vaud to witness night sky beauty tonight
Large areas of Grand Genève will be plunged into darkness tonight as communes in Switzerland and France have agreed to switch off street lights to bring out the beauty of the night sky.
In total 151 communes will go dark. 45 in canton Geneva, 27 in Vaud and 79 in neighboring France.
Its been organized by the Geneva Natural History Museum and the Geneva Astronomy Society.
The hope is the reduced light will mean the stars will be brighter and we could all see the Milky Way and the planets.
Organizers are also asking businesses to make sure their external lights are also switched off for the night.
Let’s hope the cloud clears.
